As I’ve mentioned before, I’m a big fan of personal expression. I love pink hair (not on me, but on others.) I love people in funky glasses. And, this is going to come as a surprise coming from often-cynical me… but seeing someone in a Christmas sweater makes me smile.
This past summer, the Queen of Christmas Sweaters passed away at age 71. Her name was Jeanne Bice. I used to freelance (here and there) for the Chicago Tribune. And I had the privilege of interviewing Ms. Bice for a story on her empire years ago. She was lovely. Delightful. Fun. And one smart cookie.
I’m posting a link to the story from the Tribune because I’ve been thinking of her this month. It’s a bit long, so feel free not to read it. But, either way, if you see a Christmas sweater this week, smile for Ms. Bice, won’t you?
P.S. If you do click the link, fyi, there’s a page 2 — it’s just a bit buried.
