Jared Andrew Schorr’s paper-cuttings make me happy. How happy? Imagine a baby eating ice cream. A runner finishing a marathon. Or, a stoner visiting Amsterdam for the first time.
Anyway…. I discovered the art of Jared Andrew Schorr when I was reading about tonight’s opening for the exhibit, “The Lovers, The Dreamers, And Me.” It’s a Jim Henson Tribute at the Gallery Nucleus. If I lived in California, I would be there with my kids. Even the one who has the stomach flu. (I would just keep him several feet away from the art.)
So, read about the Gallery Nucleus exhibit and then explore the world of Jared Andrew Schorr’s Super Cool Spy Club.

I’ve been holding something in, and I have to let it out. I’m a little angry with my children.
I took them to see The Muppets a week ago. I loved it. It was true to the original (joy, goofiness, silliness, hope, happiness, love, sunshine, good intentions, quirky celebrity cameos, singing, rainbows and razzle dazzle… did I mention that it was my favorite, favorite show as a kid?) but modernized correctly, nostalgic in all the right places and self-aware (if a movie can be self aware).
Yes, I loved it. My kids? Eh. They were more excited about seeing a preview for Chipmunks 3 before the movie started. That hurt. A lot.
But I think it was my fault. I didn’t prep them. They didn’t even really know who The Muppets were until about 10 minutes before the movie started.
Proof? When the movie was over, I asked my kids to name their favorite muppet. My now-four-year-old said, “*The turtle.”
*Kermit the Effing Turtle?
